Explanation: Colorism is when there is discrimination of people in the same race or nationality. It is an undeniable fact that colorism is a very big problem in India. The roots of this issue can be traced back to when the British ruled over India, and used to demean the dark skinned and favour the light skinned. Since then, there has been a lot of importance put on Indians having light skin. The Indian cosmetic industry is mainly fuelled on people's desire to be light skinned and fair. I made this piece to show how many people feel pressured to have light skin, and often spend a lot of money and time trying different products. I made this piece using coloured pencils .
